Treat Mom on Mother’s Day
Treat Mom on Mother’s Day
Mother’s Day is right around the corner. This day is all about celebrating moms. This Mother’s Day, treat your mom to Coastal Kitchen.
None of us would be here without our mothers. The history of Mother’s Day dates all the way back to ancient times when Greeks and Romans held festivals to honor the mother goddesses Rhea and Cybele. The more modern version of Mother’s Day began with Mothering Sunday, which was a Christian mass held in Europe on the fourth Sunday of Lent. It evolved from a religious mass to a day where children would give their mothers flowers and gifts. The first official American Mother’s Day took place in May of 1908. A woman named Anna Jarvis initiated Mother’s Day after her own mother died in 1905. She noted the day should be spelled in the singular possessive style to emphasize how each family should honor their own mother. In 1914, President Woodrow Wilson passed a law to make Mother’s Day a National Holiday.
When you’re a mom, you don’t have any days off. Motherhood is the best, but it’s also hard work. Show your mom some appreciation this Mother’s Day by giving her the day off and treating her to delicious restaurant food.
