Stop in and Grab a Daquiri for National Daquiri Day!
One of the best days of the year is right around the corner! All of us here at Coastal Kitchen couldn’t be more excited to celebrate National Daquiri Day with you on July 19th. With an unlimited combination of flavors, the frozen sweet treat can be customized to any flavor palette and is perfectly refreshing during the warm summer months.
We owe lots of thanks to Jennings Cox, the creator of the very first daiquiri. After a mini expedition in the city of Daiquirí, Cuba in 1898. In the 1900s the daiquiri made its way to the United States. Rear Admiral Lucas W. Johnson brought the recipe to Washington, D.C. to share with the Army & Navy Club.
Now we make our way to the 1960s. The delightful drink surged in popularity and President John F. Kennedy sipped daiquiris on his sailboat called the Honey Fitz. Later, Andrew Deitz coins the term “Daiquiri Time Out” which is the idea that any situation can be made better, and calmer, by pausing to take a shot of what is essentially a miniature daiquiri. This concept became popular in the Boston bartending community in the 2000s and is still around today!
There are so many ways you can celebrate National Daiquiri Day! One of the most fun is to throw a daiquiri party! Gather up all your ingredients and spread the joy by serving a variety of different daiquiris. You can even host a competition to see who among you and your friends can create the tastiest version of the drink. For an even more lowkey time, mix up your own favorite flavors and lounge by the pool! What could be better than soaking up some sun while sipping an ice-cold drink?
