Happy Hour at Coastal Kitchen takes place Monday through Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. You can head to our location after work with co-workers or visit us with your partner for a discount night out on the town.

The Coastal Kitchen Happy Hour features $7 Cuba Libre. The Cuba Libre is a cocktail made with rum, Coke, and lime. Even though this drink sounds simple, it has incredible flavor and a rich history. Cuba Libre translates to Free Cuba. The drink became popular in Cuba after the war of independence from Spain in the late 1800s. Coke wasn’t available in Cuba at the time, so a mix of water and honey or molasses was used to add additional flavors to the rum. Water and brown sugar were also used on occasion to make this cocktail.

However, when Coca-Cola made its way to Cuba in 1900, the cocktails were transformed. The Cuba Libre was called “part cocktail, part rallying cry” by Bacardi, who was making rum in Cuba at the time.
