National Wine Day is a holiday that celebrates the history of wine. While historians and scientists do not know the exact date that wine was invented, they did find a winery from 4300 BC. This winery was located in the Areni cave in Vayots Dzor, Armenia. Archaeologists who discovered the location call it a winery because they found cups and jars for holding wine, as well as wine presses and fermentation vats.
The history of wine dates all the way back to early history. In addition to being one of the most historical beverages, wine also has many fun facts. For example, the smell of an older wine is called a bouquet, while younger wine scents are called aromas. The states of California, Florida, and New York lead the U.S. in wine consumptions, while wine has been produced in southwestern France since Roman times. The Romans also mixed lead with wine to help preserve it and to give it a sweeter taste.
Today, wine is made with healthier ingredients. For finely crafted wine, visit Coastal Kitchen for National Wine Day! For red wines, we serve Pinot Noir, Cabernet, Merlot, and Malbec.
